A Morning at the Governor's Mansion

\There are some places you walk into and immediately start looking around.

The Maryland Governor's Mansion is one of them.

You're trying to take everything in while also remembering that you're there to work.

The architecture. The rooms. The history. The little details that have clearly been there far longer than any of us.

And then there are the moments when you have to pull yourself back together and remember: Okay. Where are the flowers going?

There was something about the combination of the setting and the reason everyone was gathered that made the morning feel particularly meaningful.

The room slowly filled.

People started arriving.

Conversations started happening.

And eventually, the room became exactly what it was meant to be: a place for people to gather, connect, and have conversations that mattered.

We've been thinking about that a lot lately.

We spend a lot of time considering what a room should feel like. Where your eye goes when you walk in. What happens when you add height, movement, color, and flowers to a space with this much history.

But once the event begins, the room takes on a life of its own.

And that's the interesting part.

You can design every detail, but you can't design the conversations people have inside of it.

You can't predict who will meet, what someone will hear that stays with them, or what ideas might come out of a room full of incredible people.

The Women's Economic Empowerment Brunch happened to take place in one of Maryland's most beautiful and historic homes.

But by the end of the morning, that wasn't really the part we were thinking about anymore.
