Why We Can’t Get Enough of the Pistache Anthurium
The anthurium.
A staple in modern floristry.
Clean stems, sculptural movement.
It makes every design stronger and will always have first time observers stopping in their tracks.
While green and red anthurium are considered “classics”, have you seen pistache?
A rare hybrid of green and light pink.
An absolute stunner.
Visually strong enough to gear the entire design.
Over the weekend, we designed a piece with pistache anthurium, icelandic poppies, asparagus fern, moss, green grapes, and shisito pepper. The design direction for this piece was “make a natural statement”. A design with it’s roots in nature yet bold enough to make a statement and cause observers to stop in their tracks. Once we understood the space, the beautiful Visitation Hotel, and the energy behind the Fashion Week event, we immediately went to the pistache anthurium.
It has the versality to read light and airy, bold and impactful, or a blissful compliment. We went for bold and impactful, framing the entire piece around one very large stem.
As clients think about the design at their event, we encourage them to dig a bit deeper into the emotion. What do you want guests to feel? What story are you trying to tell? Do you want guests to feel energized? Relaxed? How do you want your event to read? Bold? Subdued? Elegant? Do you want guests to be inspired with wonder as they walk through the space? These are all essential to creating impactful and highly personal event design.
