Why the Weird Stem Is Usually the Best One
Every bunch of flowers has one.
The weird stem.
It's bent in a strange direction.
Maybe it's too tall.
Maybe it has one bloom doing something completely different from all the others.
Maybe someone looks at it and immediately asks if we can cut that part off.
Absolutely not.
We've learned not to underestimate the weird stem.
Because more often than not, it's the thing that gives an arrangement some personality.
The perfectly round flowers are lovely.
The symmetrical stems have their place.
But sometimes everything starts looking a little too... polite.
That's when we start looking for the strange one.
The stem with movement.
The flower facing the wrong direction.
The branch that refuses to stay where you put it.
Those are usually the things that make an arrangement interesting.
We've been thinking about that outside of flowers lately, too.
The best rooms usually have something slightly unexpected.
The best events have a moment you didn't see coming.
The people you remember are rarely the ones who fit perfectly into the background.
Maybe we're all a little drawn to the thing that doesn't behave exactly the way we expected it to.
Which is probably why we keep bringing the weird stems home.
Someone has to appreciate them.
